My name is Hywel Phillips, I'm the webmaster and photographer of Restrained Elegance www.restrainedelegance.com
The website is my attempt to show that "Bondage" can mean elegant damsel-in-distress princesses and upeat fun storylines (rather than just the slightly tacky and relentlessly downbeat industrial grunge of a lot of websites).
The mainstay of the site is photos, we've recently expanded our videos into something more like proper short films and I'm experimenting with adding other media as well with illustrated storylines. I've been working with artist Brian Tarsis on one storyline (a 10th Century Viking/Byzantine epic) and with Danish author Erwin Neutzsky-Wulff on another (a Medieval knights and damsels epic). Unfortunately depite a strong start Brian has been overwhelmed by other commitments, so I am looking for new artists to collaborate with on new illustrated storylines.
Artistically the main requirements are the ability to work in a crisp, clear style that's in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the site, and the ability to draw tied-up ladies in fantastic settings and make them look beautiful. A certain degree of realism in the tying up and some tasteful nudity in the illustrations is required, but more or less everything else up for grabs, including the overall storyline, setting and format. Anime is a possibility if it is
done in clean style although I generally prefer more realistic depictions.
The work will be paid on completion of each illustration. I would be aiming for delivery of at least one illustration per month, more if you can deliver that. I will need delivery in electronic format, ideally TIFF in something around 1280x1280 pixels (although if the work is scanned or available in higher resolution that would be great). Rates of pay by negotiation.
I don't mind whether you illustrate a story I write as we go along or whether you come up with the story yourself. I don't mind whether you go for "illustrated panels" with a text story like illustrations in a book or comic strip or full-blown graphic novel. I don't mind whether the setting is science fictional, fantasy, historical or whatever- it just has to be visually stunning and something I couldn't easily shoot for photos myself, something evocative and in line with the overall elegant and clean style and focus of the site.
Let me know if this is a commission you would be interested in.
Cheers, Hywel Phillips
